The Chesapeake Women Anglers (CWA) is a women’s fly fishing club with members residing in and around the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area including MD, VA, DC and beyond.

We share skills by teaching each other while on the water and in the classroom and by writing articles for our quarterly newsletter. We meet monthly to fish on local waters in the mid-Atlantic/Chesapeake Bay area and by way of our destination trips explore more distant waters together (see CWA Calendar).

We partner with environmental groups to improve our waters, take part in community events, and socialize at our annual events.

Become a member so you can learn about the great places we fish, share the camaraderie and create your own stories. Membership is open to adult persons age 18 and over. We hope to see you on the water!

CWA Fall Fling Party and Fishing Day

30 October 2021
12:00 noon-4:00pm
Izaak Walton League Rockville Chapter
18301 Waring Station Road
Germantown, Maryland 20874-2514

After so many cancellations because of Covid last year, we are finally able to hold a CWA membership meeting and fishing party thanks to Norma Kawecki and the Izaak Walton League Rockville Chapter. We’ll be catching up, sharing fishing stories, and discussing possible fishing trips for our 2022 CWA Calendar. We’ll have drinks and light snacks at lunch at the chapter house for you, but please bring your own sandwiches.

Try your luck with our raffle prizes — one ticket free to each CWA member. Additional tickets are $1.00 each.

One very important agenda item will be the selection of a slate of candidates for CWA board members positions for the election coming up soon. Please contact Carol Stevenson (pres@chesapeakewomenanglers.org) if you are interested in running for President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer.

There will be plenty of time for fishing on the lake, home to rainbow trout, bass and some nice catfish. Catch and release practices apply. No fishing license required. Rods and equipment available to borrow.

Please register for the event by 25 October.

Non-CWA members are welcome at the party and the fishing day but, for insurance purposes, all non-members must register as a CWA member-for-a-day at this event and pay a fee of $10.

Following Covid protocols, masks and vaccinations are highly recommended for this CWA event.
