The Chesapeake Women Anglers (CWA) is a women’s fly fishing club with members residing in and around the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area including MD, VA, DC and beyond.

We share skills by teaching each other while on the water and in the classroom and by writing articles for our quarterly newsletter. We meet monthly to fish on local waters in the mid-Atlantic/Chesapeake Bay area and by way of our destination trips explore more distant waters together (see CWA Calendar).

We partner with environmental groups to improve our waters, take part in community events, and socialize at our annual events.

Become a member so you can learn about the great places we fish, share the camaraderie and create your own stories. Membership is open to adult persons age 18 and over. We hope to see you on the water!

CANCELED: CWA Bugs and Beer Fly Tying Party Sunday, 23 January 2022 @ Izaak Walton League Rockville Chapter
Jan 23 @ 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Izaak Walton League Rockville Chapter
18301 Waring Station Road
Germantown, MD 20874-2514

It’s time to start tying some flies for spring fishing. Have you looked in your fly box lately? I’ll bet there are some holes where caddis flies, woolly buggers and stone fly nymphs should be. We can fix that. Our fly tying party will feature expert fly tyers who will show you how to tie a fly that will entice even the most discriminating fish. Bring your fly tying material and equipment if you have it. Borrow ours if you don’t. We’ll have beer and sodas and pizza for lunch to accompany the fly tying. A big screen TV and fireplace are included for your enjoyment. A special thanks to Norma Kawecki, a member of the Izaak Walton League Rockville Chapter, for sponsoring this CWA party.

Please register for the event by 16 January 2022 so we can prepare some individual kits of fly tying materials for you.

Non-CWA members are welcome at the party but, for insurance purposes, all non-members must register as a CWA member-for-a-day at this event and pay a fee of $10.

Following Covid protocols, masks and vaccinations are highly recommended for this CWA event.
