The partnership of NVTU, Wetland Studies and Solutions, and Reston Association is making this years Kid’s Trout Fishing Day possible on March 23 from 8am-noon (7am start for volunteers) at Snakeden Branch in Reston, VA. Sankeden Branch will be stocked with hundreds of Rainbow Trout for the event.
Volunteers are needed to assist the young participants with fishing, setting up their rods and tackle, roaming assistance for families, cleaning table, and generally with enjoying themselves as they stand by the stream or lake. There are typically two folks at each of the tables with the bulk of help needed in roaming around and helping families with tangles lines, setting up tackle, fishing techniques, and general encouragement. This event brings in a lot of kids that are elementary school-aged and first time anglers (often with parents unfamiliar with fishing), so it means a lot to families when an experienced angler stops by and checks in with them. Kids will be using spinning rods for the event.
If you would like to volunteer to help, please register and then more information will be mailed to you prior to the event.
