This zoom chat presentation will discuss the kinds of aquatic insects that trout eat and how to match fly patterns to aquatic insects we observe on the river. We will specifically talk about the difference between mayflies, stoneflies, and caddisflies and their life cycle and how to use a key to identify them. Then we will discuss how to match fly patterns in our fly box to the type of feeding behavior we observe on the river when we are fishing. Bring your fly boxes and be prepared to show other participants your flies so we can MATCH THE HATCH together!
Please sign up for this Meetup scheduled for Saturday, May 23, from 10:30 to 11:30 am using the form below.
How can you participate in CWA Zoom Meetups?
- Members sign-up on the CWA website calendar and complete the registration form for each meetup they wish to join. For security purposes, Zoom participants will need to sign up in advance for the meetup.
- The Zoom meetup information and link will be emailed to registered members prior to the meeting. (Look for an e-mail from our Zoom host, Denise Swensen to invite you to the meeting. This should arrive the day prior to the meetup.)
- Members should click on the Zoom meeting link to join the event on the date and time listed for the meetup. (Note, if you do not have the Zoom application on your device, you will be prompted to download and install Zoom when you join your first Zoom event. It’s super easy. You can participate via phone, laptop, computer or tablet. The prompts say “save file.” Then just follow the prompts. No need to enter a separate password. Once that’s completed, you click on “join meeting.” You will be put in the “waiting room” until the host lets you in when the meeting starts. Make sure your mic and video are clicked on so everyone can see and hear you. We will be allowing video connection so that members can interact during the session. Or, there will be a dial-in option for audio only participation.)
Consider downloading Zoom prior to the meeting at this link, https://zoom.us/download#client_4meeting.

See you there!
