The mission of Casting for Recovery is to enhance the quality of life of women with breast cancer through a unique program that combines breast cancer education and peer support with the therapeutic sport of fly fishing. The program offers opportunities for women to find inspiration, discovery renewed energy for life and experience healing connections with other women and nature. CfR serves women of all ages, in all stages of breast cancer treatment and recovery, at no cost to participants.
Every year, Casting for Recovery Mid-Atlantic welcomes 14 women to each of two retreats to experience the healing power of fishing on the stream among others who have suffered breast cancer.
Chesapeake Women Anglers helped to bring Casting for Recovery to the Mid-Atlantic in 2000, and for the last 20 years has provided countless volunteers for our retreats as well as money donations to help us hold the retreats at no cost to the participants.
