Harpers Ferry Brewery was the perfect place to hold our second CWA Bugs and Beer Party on 8 February.  We filled several tables at the brewery with fifteen participants.  Six of our members shared their fly tying expertise with us to craft a variety of flies.  Thank you Maria Wilson, Kathy Harding, Rachel Willingham, Norma Kawecki, Karli Rodgers, and Phil Gay for your patience in teaching us to tie caddis flies, Golden Retrievers, soft hackle partridge flies, sulphur dry flies, midge nymphs, and Charlotte the Harlot flies.  When we weren’t enjoying the craft beer and filling our fly boxes for spring, we were marveling at the gorgeous view from the bluff overlooking the Potomac River and dreaming of fishing there in the future.  The food was great and we all went home happy.  Because fly tying has become so popular with our members, we’ll definitely be continuing this tradition at another brewery or casual bar soon.  If you have any favorite brewery or bar you’d like to suggest, please pass along your ideas to pres@chesapeakewomenanglers.org.
